Hi All This thread was created for users to input their reviews on the parts been installed on their picanto. I will start the ball rolling with the installation of Torcon Ice Tube + JR Filter As all have been at the starting point, this is the stock drop in air system which we all knew. Initial plan was to fix this up at Power Express, but due to a busy Saturday, i fixed this up at somewhere else. As picture, stock intake being removed. Finally been installed. Engine bay is rather empty but just for now LOL My views ¨C The sound generated out at 2500-3000 is simply poisonous. No more sluggish engine after hours of jam at checkpoint toward JB or back. No problem handling slope and respond time from high gear low rpm has improved. As mine is a rather stock pica, any improvement part been installed will either be good or bad. Overall happy with this mod and money well spent.

is piping good bo? cos 2inch piping and still heaty air around the area.. Still under testing but so far so good. Went to JB twice and been stuck in e jam as well, check tube temp with bare hand and it's quite ok I was planning to insulate the pipe but I am still monitoring Do note that the pipe is fully aluminium, i might not able to explain in clear term but it does help to keep the temp in check and thus better response

The filter position is good.. It's pointing away from the engine and towards the grill.. But I guess it will still take in some hot air as well.. This in inevitable unless it's a CAI.. But I think that's a good position for an open pod..

The filter position is good.. It's pointing away from the engine and towards the grill.. But I guess it will still take in some hot air as well.. This in inevitable unless it's a CAI.. But I think that's a good position for an open pod.. I was thinking of DIY the following concept (description in words) A heatshield with 2 holes, 1 for the JR filter and the other for the CAI tube Car moving -> air suck in from CAI tube ->air flow to enclose heatshield and been suction by the JR filter

For your heatshield, don't place too close to the open pod.. What I mean is try not to restrict the open pod too much. This is because an open pod's forte is able to take in large volumes of air. A heat shield, although helps to shield heat away from the filter, but if not done properly will limit the original amount of air the filter is designed to take in.
Car moving -> air suck in from CAI tube ->air flow to enclose heatshield and been suction by the JR filter
==> Are you thinking of totally enclosing the open pod with a CAI tube? Meaning air will go in from CAI tube to the heat shield, then from the open pod through the ice tube to the intake manifold? I'm not expert in this but I think just do a shield from the engine will do. Your filter position is already good enough.

Hmm.. If you want to make most of the air to come in from the CAI tube, the hole for the JR filter should be eliminated, or reduced if possible.
Given a certain amount of suction, air will always take the shorter route. Which means if you have 2 holes for the shield, one is exposed to the engine bay, the other to the CAI tube, the hole for the engine bay will always be the priority, followed by the CAI.
I suggest that you try to DIY. Change between different designs if you have the time. One thing is cost. You can buy one big piece of heat shield material and DIY yourself and won't incur too much cost.
