airbags / abs
Rio is slightly lighter than cerato Rio 1.6 is i think 110hp? even if same hp as cerato , Rio should be faster abit...check if same engine is used Rio less legroom, cerato more spacious + bigger armrest Rio HU single din only Rio has slightly better fuel consumption Rio has more readily available aftermarket parts and mods
stock to stock cerato looks more fierce, but Rio after (easily available) mod is ......... mindblasting

well since ur on pica now, i think Rio or Cerato both surely bigger ba...but my logic is...since u upsizing might as well go for the best balance.
like magentis LOL
if u got moolah, go for Koup (2 door). Forte abit heavy and FC heavier than Cerato V2. All same engine.
If u looking for Cerato and dont mind staying stock, why not view Variant 2 with higher Hp. U'll see some from late 2007 onwards @ 1591cc.

Get the Rio. I find the build quality much better than Cerato(Mine, a first gen) when I close the door. A reassuring 'thud'. But of course space wise, it's obvious right?

I'm big sized and I can sit behind together with another 3 person (medium and small sized) without complains. EDIT: Altho I've been driving a Cerato most of the time, I am more inclined towards the Rio based on your choice. But decision lies in you. Really. Go for a test drive one of these days and it's make you narrow down your decision between both models.

i want RIO due to my selfish modding desires.
But some times i feel carry so much metal for what, im the only driver half of the time
i've read threads about how sturdy cerato is built (not just because i drive one), what about Rio?

i own a forteEX1.6A and a rio 1.4A.
I travel to malaysia frequently....
rio 1.4A's gearbox is not suitable for malaysia high speed traveling.
if u'r at 120km/hr and u decide to floor ur accelerator, the entire car will jerk with a big shock.
of coz there's a reason behind it.
but forte doesn't have such an issue.

Bro,
I used to drive a Pication 1.1M for 1.5 yrs, follow by a Rio 1.4M for 2.5 yrs. Now driving a Toyota Wish. I input to you for the Rio compare to Picanto is sixe is obvious, no question ask.
Power wise, again, no question ask.
Bulid wise, again, no question ask.
Sturdy wise, again, no question ask.
Price was, very closely compare.
But if you compare Cerato Forte to Rio. You are doing a different comparision.
But my frank opinion is for RIO, This car is good in overall. I ever drove to penang (well exactly 2000km in 7 days). it run and speed well. The max i could push to is 140km/h but felt a little light to continue pushing. The FC is very very fantastic. you will surely feel no diff. between Picanto and RIO. But should you decide to take Cerato, be prepare for 30% increase in FC as this car is consider heavy for a 1.6L. But i still must say the Cerato Forte looks really good. But if buget wise is constrain, look to his big brother with "H". The price is definitely cheaper by 5K difference.
Merry Christimas and good luck.
