Hi all big bros, Im driving a picanto 2005 Auto opc. I find that i am in need of bigger space and my family memberS had increase and i had search for sgcarmart.com for 2nd "carens 1.8A" It is ok if i get 2004 model? Im looking for normal plate at the price of $25000 or less. izzit difficult to find spare parts , as not many carens on the road. Where can i get carens spareparts? in sg or jb? i can say that on the road i can see more wish n steam but price wise i think carens is still afforable for me. Please advice.. Thanks alot. Regards Edmund.

I don't know about the Carens MK I 1.8A. Min Ghee generally should have as they are the disti for KIA and Hyundai. Suggest you go for the New Carens MKII 2.0 (2007 onwards). Same engine as the Hyundai Sonata. I recently seen one in sgcarmart going for 44.8K 2007. Anyway, this is the worst time to buy car ......hmmmm..... Newspaper say only 2012/13 will the COE start to drop........ The next thing....FC....from 1000cc to 1800cc is 80% increase. Expect FC to drop 50% if you use the same driving style. I only clock about 8km/L. My previous corolla 1.5A 10km/L and my previous previous Fiat Uno 10km/L.....my previous X3 Daihatsu 500 9km/L.......my previous X4 Yamaha RXK $5 for 100km.....heee. You keep paying more and more.....sigh..... Hi all big bros, Im driving a picanto 2005 Auto opc. Hi Edmund,
Carens is actually quite common on the road, spare parts are never a problem... As bro Appletree mentioned, u can always go Ming Ghee is your regular workshop dont carry parts (which is very unlikely).
Similarly, i would advise u get the Carens2.0 models (mid 2005 onwards)... I've heard from a previous bro that the FC & power for 1.8 is not as good as that of a 2.0 (he was driving the 1.8 then)...

Im not lookin for power yet for space. So izzit fine if i go for 1.8 and 2004. I comparing wish steam, carens and forte sedan.
So nw Im abit confuse. Zzz.. If monthly i need to pay 500+ for caren then i think i will go for forte.

Bro, you are comparing an apple to an orange... U cannot compare Forte to MPV (eg. Carens, Wish, etc)...
Forte is a sedan, Carens is a MPV...
Of cos if u compare Wish, it is definitely more spacious, better leg room, cos' its slightly bigger than Carens... & as such, u definitely ve to pay more...
Between Wish & Carens, the latter is definitely a good buy for its price, as compared to any other Japs model... But again, it all depends on your like & pocket's depth...
As for Carens, i seriously urge u to consider the 2.0 models (mid 2005 onwards), rather than the 1.8 model... The latter is more sluggish... U will hate e FC in e long run... Imagine a 1.5 tonne monster running on a 1.8 engine... Bearly make it....
At e end of e day, its yr choice, go with yr heart (& wallet), & live w it... Dont regret...

I can share with you a bit of my profile. I have 3 kids and on weekend I may need to drive 5 adults and 3 children for Breakfast and Dinner. Under rare occasion, 7 adults and 3 children. I like the carens over stream and wish is becos it is 5cm wider and it can take a higher load than the two. The 1.8L Carens do not have CVVT, the FC may not necessarily be lower than the 2.0 model. CVVT save 10~15% fuel. As for the FC for Stream and Wish. I ever drove a Honda Civic 1.8L for 8 days. I clocked only 9~9.5km/L. The stream which uses the same engine is heavier. I doubt I can get the fanastic 12km/L run. And Forte ?? It is like comparing Apple and Pineapple and assume they are same........ I think you are really confused As car is so ex now.....suggest you doing a bit of planning on the intended load (passenger) I usually take about 6 mth to 1 year to consider when purchasing a car. Driving a wrong car can be so miserable...... Im not lookin for power yet for space. So izzit fine if i go for 1.8 and 2004. I comparing wish steam, carens and forte sedan. So nw Im abit confuse. I'm comtemplating the same switch... just saw the advertisement on yesterday Life section, there's a promotion of 199 per month till 2012 for brand new Carens, wonder what's the catch... If I call them over the phone will C&C entertain my enquires, or have to make a trip down before they share the details?

Probably 10 year 100% loan + cash rebate. Almost wanted to buy a brand new one. But C&C wanted me to take 80% loan for 7 years......if not, add this add that. Their cost structure too high. Got too use to selling Mercedes...... Want to buy new car, go buy from Borneo Motors, min. loan 30K for 2 years. No mandatory servicing with them. Next time, should I need to buy Carens again, I will parallel import from Malaysia myself........ And for a 2004 model, engine would have lost at least 10-15% of its bhp... making the FC even worse.
