Im on 5w40 Mobil Full Syn and wanting to change to another new brand. What are you guys using and why? Is 5W40 too thick for the engine? Thinking of changing to Redline 5w30 as mentioned on the website most popular for most passenger cars. Mine is a 4.5 yr old pica, Mileage only 40K km. Which is why i have thoughts on switching to 5W30 for better response and FC.

using OWS 5w40, nothing much to comment. Feels normal to me, perhaps too thick affect FC.
Will try out redline 5w30 for next servicing.

Higher in quality EO and will get better protection - 5w30 should be save. Usually from most forum, they will recommend to 50k and below mileage car. Not to sure about 5w20 but sure get very noisy engine. I will not try for sure. I tried cheap EO once and no more second try. Waste of time and $. Replace before the 2nd month. Another 2 service will than change to 5w40 as mileage now is still below 50k.

BTW, amsoil 5W40 feels lighter compare to redline's. so you wan more protection and smoother pick up, go amsoil amsoil is slightly more noisy

I'm sticking with 5W40 my colleague has a corolla , if i am not wrong should be 10 years and beyond , engine has not given him any problem nor he clean the engine before.. now still running strong.. From 1st service he has been using 5w40 , after 80000km switch to 5W50
