Just noticed these few days when I start my engine it idles at around 1.1k to 1.2k rpm.
Will only drop back to ard 800 rpm only after a few minutes or after I start driving.
Is this a problem? Mine is a 2009 Rio, Mileage ard 19k.

Thanks to all who replied bro Daniel.
This is absolutely normal.
Its the warm up idle sequence. Every time the ecu detects cold engine when crank, it will adjust the idling till engine is warm.
Since we're at this topic, its a good practice to crank your car, relax, enjoy the music, enjoy the air con... till the idle drops, then start driving... a warm engine after all the metal is properly expanded and lubricated = a longer lasting engine... Just my 2 cents... =)

Ah, this sounds more like a idling control valve problem.
Try to do a throttlebody cleaning, it could be a very simple clogging of the sensor.
Just to check, are you using a aftermarket filter? Open pod?
I'd suggest doing a TB cleaning first (cost the least) meantime i'd get my mechs to check all cables and tb butterfly just to be sure its not semi stuck.
TB Cleaning is $65.
Cheers!

Hi Bro Theredstar, Not very true bro, ok very simply warming up provides this... Few factors involved here... 1) Oil flows when stationary down to the oil sump, overnight, this oil is all collected at the oil sump, meaning there is only a very thin film (some times even pretty much dry) on all the moving parts that is up in your crankcase. The oil pump is therefore used to push oil to circulate into and out of passageways meant to lubricate these components. So initial crank, then oil starts flowing... now a days engines are built more efficiently thus the so called no real need for warm up... but still a certain time is required for oil to properly lubricate all these parts. 2) Metal expansion: Basically all metal parts in the entire engine expands and contracts dependant on heat. This expansion seats everything nice and thightly in place. You'll find that in a repair manual, eg all the bolts for the cam shaft.. have a cold torque reading, so repairers tighten these bolts on a cold engine at this specific torque reading... after expansion from heat = nice and tight... So i'd say yes still let the engine warm up for a little while (1-2 mins) then drive off still better than COLD... 1-2 mins of getting comfy in your seat, put on safety belt, adjust your shirt thereafter, adjust volume of ICE, then move off, wont waste too much petrol ba... To me, everything has an optimum range, so why run something out of optimum.. =) Or am just being a perfectionist... hmmm I warm my engine to oil temp gauge start moving ie 50+ deg cel then i move off de.. haha

Check your throttle position sensor and Idle actuator controller.
