I just visited the website. There is a DO and DON'T for transmission box. One of the DON'T is that never put to neutral gear when stopping at traffic light. I always shift to N gear at traffic light stop lor. Anyone doing that ? Or all are in D gear ?

Ya, i do that too... shift to N at traffic lights.... Read from somewhere that this is not necessary as modern cars will adjust the electronics during such short-term wait... but difficult to change my habit lah.. I ve nvr read about it been harmful to our gear box though.. I just visited the website. There is a DO and DON'T for transmission box. My previous ride is a corolla, for 7 years never change ATF leh. Everytime I go for servicing @ motograd they said no need to change. By the time they said it is time to change when I come for next servicing the car is probably in Afica loh. Clocked only 130kkm when I sold off..... For Carens, how long usually need to change ? Ya....I heard somewhere that the ECU sense the brake light signal. If foot brake is depress, the ECU will adjust something. But as you release the brake slowly until the car start to move, with the brake light still on means there must be some ficition between engine and gearbox leh. No good.... So I still put to N for this ride. Do note that the Carens gear lever is all plastic construction lor.....seen it when I DIY the DVD player last year...... Ya, i do that too... shift to N at traffic lights.... Any info on $$$$$ for renew and flushing of ATF? Done liao, flushing plus change new AT oil. So far seems OK. Took abt 3 hours. damage $180 which i tink is reasonable. saw dat d oil is quite "black". when i bought fm d used car shop, i went 4 svs. but then i tink d previous mechanics did not flush the AT, maybe just drain and pour new oil. btw, tks for all the help and infor.

To be frank, I don't know how much is the saving OR how much can u save? To what I was told, it's a common & good practise to change ATF every 20,000km (or every 3x engine oil change). Once it reaches 60,000km, go 4 another flushing and the cycle repeat itself.

Though is ex (i tink abt $400/$500++) but it's worth the $$$, especially 4 those who travel frequent up north.
