Dear Riosters,
if you'r along NSH at 140km/hr and you floored your accelerator, will your Rio "stupidly" downshift to 3rd gear and caused a tremendous JERK?
it happened to me.

my car had that jerk twice.. once to melaka, once back to SG.. but not sure whether was it due to shifting down to 3rd gear..

the jerk is caused by your gear downshifting. It is trying 2 match the change in rotation speed in between gear ratios. Hence you get that effect of a sudden jerk in the car, especially if you're travelling at high speeds. I've experienced it before as well.
Bro thought you experience this before?

Not say good or bad lah. Its just what the ECU is programmed to do. I guess the trick is to allow the Rev to drop slightly when it downshifts. if prolonged jerking, i tink it'll cause the gears to wear and tear in the long run. just my opinion tho, u might wanna consult a qualified mech. =)

Hi, That is normal, when you floor pedal it will down shift to 3rd gear. What you can do just slowly push down till 160km/h then you floor it, sure won't drop to 3rd gear. If car come with manual override will be better, just manualy put to highest gear and floor down the pedal. I don't encounter any jerk when gear shifted down to 3rd gear, just rpm went up higher. If not mistaken 5500rpm at 160km/h on 3rd gear.
