3 - 4 yrs, by then the compound hardened. Ok, so roughly how to tell the compund is hardened? or physcially see any thing on the tyre? And any intro for tyre shop and tyre, oso what is the damage like? As I am not looking to that kind of high profile tyre. I am jus a family man, mainly fetching kids etc to and fro.

You mean low-profile bah, high-profile tyres are usually comfort-biased, less sporty in terms of performance Can try Chen Jin or Arrow Tyres

i heard about 30km mileage or 3yrs time 30km too short, even 30k km, the track is still there. i beleive is ard 60k to 100k lifespan. shelf life is ard 6 yr so u all must see what date the tyre is manufacture. it can be found on the tyres itself

3yrs on the road max. 6yrs expire from manufacturing date.
if depth less than 10cent coin dotted line for grooves, change.
Just change if any of them comes 1st.

So as u mentioned 3 yrs on road max (This apply to OPC or normal plate car)? That means i got to change now? I got my pica in 2006 and change tyre in 2006 (tyre manufacture in 2005) too. So that means i got to change my tyre now?? The depth is still alot more. Can put at least 3x or 5x 10cents coins as my mileage is oni 30K till date for 4 years.

IMO, OPC or not, 3 years go change. Max 4 years.
By then rubber compound already start hardening, less safe on the road.

you won't want to drive a hardened tyre on the road... afterall its the only contact you have with the ground. Just change it.
10-20k km is for tyre rotation, tyres can go up to 100k km. some car owners they prefer to change it every year so that they are certain that the tyres maintain good grip on the ground.

mine I changed about 2-3 yrs ago...last wk gave up on me on the expressways just last week..drove abt 50,000 km on those.... for safety, best to change around 3 yrs or maybe 50,000 km IMO be it OPC or normal plate, the hardening duration will be the same.. mainly depends on the type of tyres u r using n the road condition...so its good to check ur tyres every now and then or during servicings... I just change my 14" Federal, $80/ pc..price increased liao...and heard it going to increase some more... IMO, OPC or not, 3 years go change. Max 4 years. By then rubber compound already start hardening, less safe on the road.

darren, worn off tyres have lesser grip on the ground, with lesser grip/contact, your FC will be better. However, you will be trading this puny FC for your safety. So any logical person will want to change their tyres instead of having better FC by sacrificing their lives...
