Hi, I'm new to this forum. Am driving an '05 Magentis. Anyone ever felt that it was underpowered for a 2L car? I actually went to do a dyno on the car and to my shock, the dyno results showed that the horsepower was a miserly 109bhp! The stated power shd be about 140bhp. I understand tat the power may be slightly under what was quoted in brochures but this is a rather significant drop of 31bhp! Same thing for the torque. Think the quoted torque was supposedly abt 190+ or so... the dyno results showed only 163Nm. Was quite disappointed.... Anyone got a similar experience?

Bro, I don't think it's underpowered. Once in the highway, I easily overtake 75% of those at Lane 1 from Lane 2 without hitting 3000rpm. We can exchange drive to see any difference. Our rides are about the same age. Pm you my contact liao. Hi, I'm new to this forum. Am driving an '05 Magentis. Anyone ever felt that it was underpowered for a 2L car? it does feel lethargic and not as zippy as the 2.4l version which i drove in Aus. wonder if there is anything we can add on to get more power without increasing too much the already high fc.

Tx for the replies. As wat blastwave said, the car does feel a little lethargic, which is why i sent it to do a dyno test and got the rather saddening results. Things I did to the car: 1. Dropped in a Hurricane air filter 2. Chipped it with Unichip and let the folks do a tuning via the dyno test Slight improvement over last time however, if according to the results, it's not even hitting the brochure stated torque and horsepower. Btw, appreciate all ur responses so far.

Wow looks like your tuned unichip ride with hurricane should be better ride than mine. May be those lane 1 drivers are just kind to give way to my Magentis ... haha.
Lethargic is correct if you compare to those lighter rides including Camry (surprise this puffed up car is so light). I have to unlearn my previous 0-60kph driving habit when I first drove Optima. I then realised it is actually safer driving in most residential roads.
Hope to contact and exchange drive with blastwave soon. Take care and let me know once you recovered.

Put on a Simota open pod, its better for auto cars. Well maybe it works well for me, Unichip Q tuned, very torque. Exhaust semi flowed. very good. Enjoy
