since i've got no money to buy after market lowered springs, my friend suggested to cut the original springs or compress it.
anyone know where to do it and roughly how much? Any side effects?
I find the original springs very comfortable and good, just that it sits 3cm too high

I won't go for both options.. By doing so, u'll mess with the settings and spring rate.. Not to mention, safety concerns..

Springs are made and coiled acording to the weight and rebound of the car and absorber.. Yes, cutting is indeed common, to achieve the lowered look.. But do take note that the spring rate will be altered.. And may cause further damage to the absorbers and linkages..

not worth it. My mate from australia just had a very bad accident due to cutting of springs.
As the bounce of the cut spring was terrible, he went thru a turn too fast, car flipped..
Think about that, not worth it..
cheers!

Ok.. no cut and compress for me.. I'm a corner junkie.. once I see corner must chiong one..

Stiffeners won't help that much.. I have them for my rear dampers.. Stiff by abt 30%.. Still not worth cutting IMO...

Haha at the end of the day must change all 4. Now looking at GAB shocks. Might drop by mofiz to take a look later of got time.
I just want something lower but with current comfort of stock springs. With safety of course.

There's ppl who also compress and weld their springs together instead of cutting them. But still i dun tink its adviseable.....

Then slowly to the absorbers.. Or, u might one to liase with the shop to change the front pair first then subsequently when u have enough cash already, the move on to the rear.. Of coz, u must have good terms with the workshop.. Just sharing my idea..

With safety of course. For GAB products, i suggest u ask for pricing from their supplier at KL. Just email them. The price they quote is way much cheaper than shops in JB quote. And also ask them where in jb u can go install. I did tat last time and was happy with their customer service.

I think you can forget the spring cutting as I don't think any workshop can do that for you.... why? It is because our cerato spring does not have a uniform size from the top to bottom. The top is much smaller than the lower portion. So where do you want to cut it?? Cut the middle protion & weld it back?? That's the reason why it is difficult to find a lower spring for our ride as most of sport spring are uniform size from the top to bottom.
I think another few years you will get lower spring (at the rear) like mine... I spend much time not to lower my car (rear) but to lift it up higher to orignal .... hahaha....
