Dear Mr Sir,
Cutting of hole on car bonnet
FEEDBACK NUMBER: 385196
Please refer to your enquiry of 24 Jul 2006.
2 We would like to inform you that the Land Transport Authority (LTA)
requires all vehicles, including modification of vehicle body to comply
with the technical requirements relating to their construction and use, and
to safeguard the safety and interest of the user as well as other road
users.
3 Depending on the intend and modification of the bonnet, we have, in
general, no objections to the alternation of bonnet permutations such as
fitting of bonnet scoops or air vents on the bonnet so long as the
modification does not adversely reduce the strength or impact resistance of
the bonnet or increase the risk of bodily injury to any road users. In
addition, you may wish to note that sharp edges must be suitably treated
and the design of the modified bonnet must not obstruct the view of driver.
4 In order for us to access the safety implications on the bonnet that
you intend to modify, we would require the following information for
evaluation:
a) Detailed technical specifications and drawing of the modified
bonnet, including its installation procedures; and
b) Supporting documents to certify that the installation of the
modified bonnet does not substantially reduce the strength or
impact resistance of the bonnet.
You can forward the above documents to the Vehicle Engineering Division of
LTA at 10 Sin Ming Drive, Singapore 575701.
5 We hope the above clarifies.
Yours sincerely,
(SIGNED IN LOTUS NOTES)
