Hi all, I am thinking of going to take up a CNG conversion for my CERATO. Thinking of gathering those interested to organise a mass conversion. Hopefully a mass conversion can bring down the price a little. Presently, the conversion costs approximately S$2K. I will get more information and update you all of the price again. Anyone interested? Leave me your name and contact in my PM and I will contact you once I have more details.

Got a reply from Melchers.
They told me installation would cost $3900 for Jap/Korean cars.
If I can get 20 pax to go for the installation, there will be bulk discount.
OCBC Cardholders get instalment free payment.
See email below for more details...
Hi,
The conversion costs start from $3900 (for Jap/Korean cars) for the Sequential Kit conversion package. OCBC credit card holders are entitled to interest free instalment payments. This price includes the kit with all its components, one steel cylinder, which is installed horizontally in the boot of your car, the installation service, documentation required, diverse safety checks and fine-tuning procedures. Price does not include cylinder covering box, or additional components that may be required. This is for 66L tank that carries about 10KG of CNG. Time taken can be from 3 days or so depending on complexity and schedule. 1 year guarantee for the kit and 5 years for the cylinder.
Your car should have no issue as we have done on many similar saloons before but boot space will be compromised. Most importantly is that your car is electronic fuel injection and it should have no probs with installing.
Appointments must be made for any pre-assessment or installations. Our workshop is in Neythal Road.
If you can get a minimum of 20 cars, we can give you a bulk purchase discount.

I saw fuel cost rise from $1.10 to $2.00 today....If I had extra 450mm length in the boot, I will jump in straight away but I need my boot space! BTW, when this CNG conversion was first introduced, the guy told me installation took 3 hrs, so if you leave your car there for 3 days, it will be idling most of the time. Its better to arrange a slot for you to go instead. Also, they told me no hidden cost. the $4000 include everything but I guess now they have included lessons learnt on the extra costs that they cannot absorb. Anyway, good luck. Do post your mileage per $ figures once you are CNG'd! ;D

Guys, I heard from my SE of Leng Kee that Cerato with CNG is currently not approved yet so you might want to check with the CNG Company to make sure on this point before going ahead with the installation.

So far went back twice to re-config the engine emission controls. Other than that, no complains. Each tank, about 9.5kg of gas, I can travel around 150 to 160km. Each top up cost me about $10. Adding up, for the same mileage derived from petrol, I basically save 50% on fuel costs per tank. I will be posting some pictures soon...

From what I know, if the conversion is not done with the vendor, then high chance that the vehicle's remaining warranty will be voided. If you are thinking of getting a car then convert it to CNG, try getting one that offers the conversion option with KIA dealer. FOr me, no warranty issues cause my vehicle is already 3 years old...
