My dad drives a 2005 Sportage. It has been mechanically excellent so far (no noticeable vibrations for a almost 100k km car), except that the gearbox feels like gear 1 and 2 has been stuck together, causing the car to move off at gear 3 whenever he leaves his car in the carpark for more than 1 day. Restarting the car after a while solves the problem.
Any way to solve this problem?

That is because there are some problem, mostly with the Auto-Trans, and the ECU locked the gear in 3rd gear. Better to get the car Scanned and read the fault code to resolve the problem correctly. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim
