HI Joey,
There are talks abt changing to Lightweight Pulley will improve performance.
What is your advice on this ? Any side effect like the belts will wear off faster etc ?
Do you provide the parts and service for this ?

Crank Pulley belongs to the lower half of the engine. Which comprises of Flywheel and Crank Shaft. Their main duty is to transfer the linear motion of the piston into rotary motion and transmit it to the gear box.
Another feature is Inertia Energy. That is why they are made very heavy. The purpose is to safe energy when the rpm is high and it can prolong the rotation of the engine without incurring much energy.
Lightening this group of parts will make the starting effort of rotation much easier. That is why you will feel that the car is more 'powerful'. It is good for heavy city driving. However, the car will slow down faster when you are on highway.
Another duty of the Crank Pulley is to prevent shock rotation (sudden rotation) transmission to the belts. This action will snap the belt easily. That is why Crank Pulley has a rubber rim separating the inner pulley and the outer pulley. It acts as a damper.
Good LWCP will improve pick up.
Bad LWCP will cause premature wearing of belts. Shock rotation and out of balance LWCP will also crack the crank shaft, cos vibration and noise.
Thanks and safe driving.

Thanks Joey for the informative reply.
Would you recommend and provide the parts and service for LWCP ?
Is it advisable to change just the Crank Pulley or 4 of them ( I think ) ?

How would you define a Good and a Bad LWCP?

Sorry, I don't carry this part.
A good LWCP is one that is centrifugally balanced and will not warp under pressure.
Thanks and safe driving.

Do we need to change all 4 pulley to light weight type ? or we can juz change the crank pulley ?
Will there be any side effect if only change crank pulley ?
1) Crank Pulley 2) Alternator Pulley 3) Water Pump Pulley 4) Power Steering Pulley

hi bro Joey.. mine ride long time already chenged to LWCP and it indeed improve pickup and smooth acceration... i also like to know with the other 3 pulleys change will enhance car pickup performance? i already done QF so if i changed all the alternator, water pump and power steering pulley will i need to retune my ride?
Thanks to share your expertise... is it worth to spend to change all these pulley?

Bad side effect are engine vibration, crank shaft crack, etc. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Thanks to share your expertise... is it worth to spend to change all these pulley? I can't say to change or not to change, I should be neutral here. However, only the main crank pulley is directly coupled to the Crank system and has direct effect on the centrifugal force. I would rather put more attention to the quality of the Pulley and also the size of the pulley. Having an under size pulley is also beneficial and will also reduce drag. However too small will cause the power steering and others to have lower rpm and may affect their effectiveness. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Hi Bro Joey. thanks for advice. understand the pulley is on the same size but only lighten 50% in weight... so in this case, if the quality of the pulley is good, these changes will help in better pickup and smoother acceration am i right? what about QF, do i need to redo my QF tuning if i change all my abovestated pulleys?
Thanks in advance for your expertise opinion.

hi joey, can we say that lightening the crank pulley is good for start-stop travelling in sg. but for cruising long distance, the stock crank pulley is more effective? will lightening the crank pulley in sg driving improve the fc? thanks in advance!

Yes, you are right in both situations. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim
