Hi Joey, Recently someone vandalise my car by burning my Head-Light with a cigarette butt. Now there is a burnt mark right in the middle of my head-light. Can I check if there is a way to remove the burnt mark? If not, what will be the cost of replacing the headlight cover? Can I do it at your shop? I m driving a old picanto. Pls advise. Thanks. I think it is very difficult to remove the mark. Can't replace lens only too as it comes a complete unit. May have to replace it. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Would your workshop be able to help with the replacement? If yes, how much?

Hi Joey,
Is there anyway we can identify if my tyres are hitting the lifespan?
Tyre was punctured and have no choice, need to drive with a flat tyre. Heard some metallic sound while driving, but no choice need to reach a tyre shop first to do emergency patching.
The mechanic told me that 2 of my tires might give way anytime. Not sure how he can tell just by looking though..
Need your advice:)
Thanks in advance!

hi joey,
i m facing with problem of low fc.. my car is less than a year and i used it only 3-4 times per week, usually on short distance ~5km.. so i was wondering if petrol will evaporate from the oil tank?
another issue is when i step out of my car after driving i can smell a petrol kind of smell.. it is especially strong when i stand at the bonnet and at the back of the car.. yesterday i travel for 1/2 hour and let my car rest for around 2 hours, when i was about the drive again i check the undercarriage.. there is a strong petrol smell there again.. can you advice what should i do to zoom into the cause?

Hi Joey, currently I own a 2005 picanto. When the car is moving above 30km/h, there is a humming sound (I believe it is from the engine). However sometimes the sound is not there. Do you know what is the reason? Mileage now around 73k. Also recently I find out that after driving for a long time (more than 30 minutes) the car seems unable to change from 3rd gear to 4th gear at the normal 70km/h mark. I think it will only change after the 85km/h mark. Hope you have some solution for me.

Not sure how he can tell just by looking though.. Need your advice:) Thanks in advance! First of all, have to apologise to all bros here for not attending to this thread lately, too bz lah, sorry. Generally, you can see if the tyre is entering it sunset days by looking for a 'bridge' in the 'longkan'. You can locate this 'bridge' from a triange arrow on the side wall of the tyre. If the 'bridge' is almost same level as the surface of the tyre, that means the life span is almost up. In you case where you suffered a flat tyre and you drove with it for a short distance, your rim might have cut the tyre. With physical inspection, the Mechanic can determine whether it is due for change or not. Very difficult to explain the kind of damage here. If you want, you can come to our workshop and we will do the inspection for your. Member is always FOC. thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Hi, I am driving a Picanto. May I know when to change the fuel filter. Mileage now is 50K. Where is the filter located and what is the cost for replacement? Thanks I usually recommend to change Fuel Filter at 40k km (although some owner manual recommended 60k km). There are 2 possible location: in the fuel tank (internal type) or along the fuel track (external type). Price of Filter is around $60-80 dollars. Labour for internal is $40-60 and external is $10-20. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Do you know what is the reason? Mileage now around 73k. I think it will only change after the 85km/h mark. Hope you have some solution for me. Very difficult to describe a sound, therefore very difficult to diagnose online. However, let me teach you how to isolate the source of the sound: If the sound is from engine, it will usually correspond to the rpm of the engine. Free your gear and let the car roll. If the sound correspond to the rolling of the car, then it is from the Undercarriage or wheel. Off your aircon, it is easier to hear the sound. At 73k km, and if you did not take good care of your Auto-Trans, you may have sticky valves, you need to change the ATF. If you have done some change of ATF in the last 20k - 30k km, then I recommend you to flush the ATF. If the ATF has not been changed for the last 40k - 50k, then Flushing may cause the inherent problem to surface (these problems usually cannot be solved by maintenance). Thanks and safe driving.
