Hi Carens dudes........I am thinking of ceasing my affiliation with my beloved 09 Carens Elite. The core, it had been greatly under ultilised during this near two years of ownership. To vouch, my mileage of 20700km depicts. In weekdays, I am mostly driving alone for commuting purposes. Thus, the rest of the six seats were neglected..largely(They are my official dust collector during weekdays!!) However, the situation slightly improved in the weekend with my family joining the fun to rub their butts (wife and two little monkeys). There is no dispute that it is a luxury to own this big, comfortable and spacious monster, but it is a certain contrary to my lifestyle and I reckoned paying the hefty road tax and insurance fee doesnt justified. Financially, I am pondering is it the right time to offload this beautiful beast that served me well for the last 22months?? Let me shared on the $$$ aspects. I had checked with Citibank, the full settlement of my ride is $24XXX and I am considering it to be healthy. My next ideal ride should be an used Honda Fit(I like Hatchback very much!!)I had a quote from a dealer of trading in my ride for $53K, and taking their Mid 07 Honda Fit for $42k. I had actually test drive the said Fit and it was certainly tempting, but I am not impressed with the absorbers and the low profile springs. Anyway, I will keep my option wide and I am planning to raid Car Mart this weekend to have more varity of Fit/Jazz.....or even airwave!! In summary dudes, putting in my position, will you change your ride and do you deem it as an appropriate time? Thank you..... NB: Anyone have good dealer to recommend and would be best any Honda Fit/Jazz to kai seow??

having read your above story... you will at times be ferrying your co-pilot & 2 'monkeys'... if you do end up with a Fit/ Jazz... will you have enough trunk space to house your shopping bags???
Your situation is very similar to mine... my dumbo was very under utilised... & i ended trading in my dumbo for my current airwave in 2008, when the pump price hit a record high...
Ultimately its your decision... think over it carefully lor...

Ya... Carens is a good choice if u ve good utilisation of it... No doubt abt it...
Whether u wana keep yr Carens, change to a hatchback, a sedan, a decent 5 seator or a squeezy ride... Do do your sums right... Ultimately go for what yr heart (& mind) feels comfortable...

my carens also under utlilised. weekday i ferry my wife to work, 4km from home and i off to work at tuas. even weekends i don ferry my wifeagain in the car unless going to farms with my sis and nephews(maybe once or twice a month), though my sis got a car, she's been taking mine for such outing. I love the chit chat in the car with my nephew, wont be able to do that with my old saloon car. yes, it is totally under under utilized but there were times i pick my sis and family or when i went airport to pick up my friends, I will smile whenever they say"lucky u come, if not i have to take 2 cabs just to ferry my bags" to me its like condom, i prefer to have it and not use it(the huge space) than need it but dont have it(the huge space as well) for whatever reasons.

Haha, from Carens till condom.... I was mocked once by my colleagues. They said:" yesterday you drive Karen(Carens) home right, better own up....." I was wondering, our female colleague may has a nice(or maybe ok)body, but certainly not the face...(cover the face, fire the base??)...A quick reaction from me to deny......eventually find that they are referring to my Kia Carens.... Anyway, just an update. I will be ceasing my love with my Carens(not Karen hor...) from next Tueday onwards. I had traded her in for $53k for a 3.7yrs old Chilli red(very hot)Yaris for $42k. By selling my Carens, I got back cash of $29k.....and without hesitation, I pumped in to my Yaris....leaving ard $13k loan and to be repay in 5 yrs. Sorry dude, seem under heavy criticism and I still insists on taking a hatchback with small booth. I am seriously thinking of middle-long term in cutting cost on fuel, road tax, insurance and maybe maintenance..(sorry ah, not trying to blend Carens as problematic, but generally referring to big car with bigger maintenance...)
