New to this forum... I just bought my Soul in Feb. Paid a whopping 70K+++ (OPC) due to the high COE but it is ok, I LOVE THE CAR! Hard to find a car you like these days let alone one which makes you feel like driving it for long period just so you can spend time with it.
I drove up to KL in March and cruising on the highway (smooth tarmac) was heaven. However once the rough surface comes in around the highway closer to Melaka (about 10 mins out of Ayer Keroh towards KL), it was pure torture as the surface is rough and you could hardly hear the radio through the road noise. But thats the same for almost all cars, I suppose.
Otherwise the built in i-Pod connectivity is a joy to use. I have seen more than a few heads turn to take a second look at the car when I stop at traffic junctions, going by slowly in a jam, or simply when driving on the highway. The higher stance makes it a breeze to go over flood waters too... case in point when it rained heavily recently and water pooling was an issue, the Soul just cruised over these flood puddles.
Fuel consumption... well, I am clocking an average of 10.7km / L now that the engine has more or less run-in. It is expected to improve further, although I don't know by how much. I do miss my Rio's consumption (14.5km / L) in this aspect.
Suspension is terribly stiff but that gives respectable handling capabilities. Reminds me of a rental jeep I drove in Bali. The again, the chunky and butch exterior of the Soul does make it look like a jeep anyway.
It you see me driving a tomato red Soul with a red plate (SKA), give me a wave.
