I'm interested in getting one. Want to know if anyone using the scangauge II. Are the info provided by the gauge accurate, like fuel economy? Who is the local distributor that I can contact? Thanks guys. Anyone interested in the guage? This URL by the manufacturer is www.scanguage.com/I've tested the guage, it can display the following information from the ECU via the OBD-II port under the steering column. - Fuel Economy - Voltage - Coolant Temperature - Intake Air Temperature - Engine Speed (RPM) - Vehicle Speed (KMH) - Engine Load - Throttle Position - Ignition Timing - Open/Closed Loop Other function this device can do are: - Read/Reset ECU Fault Code - Trip Computer (comprehensive info - similar to whats describe in the owners manual but not found in our cars) Price wise: 1 pc - $329 5 pc and up - $309 Anyone interested? I can ask to loan a demo set during our next meetup. Bernard

Don't know where this can be done. Saw a M'sian registered Mag, with twin exhaust like the new Mark X. One left One right. Not sure if its split. Maybe only one is real.

Hi Dudes,
Now in Korea, there are many new model Korean cars here. The Infiniti looks superb, so sad can't be found in Singapore. I think the Infiniti is the Korean version of Lexus. The new model Carens looks great so are the models of Samsung & Ssangyong. For SUV lovers, the SSangyong Actyon does not look like the normal korean makes. Samsung 3 (1.6) looks better than the new model Avante. Samsung 5 (2.0) & Samsung SM7 (3.0) the same model as the Cerifo but price is half. Kia's 3litre luxury model looks really luxurious, price same as what most of paid for our Magentis.
I understand you guys will be meeting, let me know when I'll try to be there. Be back this weekend

Always use the thinest recommended oil for optimal fuel economy and power. I'm currently on M1 0W20, response is great and engine is smooth. Got the oil from www.mxtradings.comYup got mine from Terence as well. Very smooth Pick up. Though some mechanics will not recommend, their qualm is too thin.

I think Hattee is right. It takes a change in mindset. As most workshops carry the universal one which is 40 (applicable for most cars), they'll normally 'sell' the idea that it is better for the engine. Though Turbo cars, normally use the 50 (heavier), to prevent breakdown. I'm no oil expert but recently did a change to 0W20 Mobil1. Got it from Terence (Mxtrading). The specs is for Nescar Race. So I suppose it's good enough for the Mag. My normal driving speed 80-100km/h, occasionaly hit 120.
To my surprise, the pickup from standstill improved quite a fair bit, more smooth. Don't know if the attributed to the Superione product installed or the thinner oil. FC will have to monitor for 2 tanks. So far, it seems to give about 3% better mileage on a per trip basis.
Anyone tried REDLINE also from Terence? Suppose to be good.

Which type of engine oil is most popularly used?
Most workshops carry W40 type of oil. C&C also uses the W40 variey.
Wonder if any Mag bros have tried others such as W30 or W20 since the operation manual suggest such oil will give better economy.
Anyone tried W30 or W20? Which brand?

Long time didn't login here. How are the Mag Bros doing? Hopefully still driving the Mag.
Must try to meet up, long time no see hattee. Got a ScanGauge couple of months back and have been using it to monitor the FC. Average FC on fulltank = 11km/litre. I'm not really sure how accurate the device, for the last 2 months, whenever I travel on hwy betw. 80-110km/h for distances > 20km. The scangauge shows that I get 6.6litres/hundred km. i.e. 1L=15.15km.

Sorry guys been busy. didn't get to login to sgkia. perhaps after next wk. fyi, hattee, I have been able to get quite consistently fc above 10.5km/l (70/30; hwy/city) with increase pickup power. If I do 80/20, able to get 11.5. Quite happy with setup now.

Guess there aren't many active Mag bros in this forum. Perhaps we can organise a kopi session & exchange pointers in the new year.
As for the correct tyre size 205/55R16, the ride is definitely more comfortable. As for FC, there is no effect because it is only a few mm larger than 205/50R16 (btw is incorrect size).
I'm now able to consistently get above 10km/litre on the tank.

It seems that we, Mag owners, have been presented with different sets of problems with the car. I do not know if all the Bros here have the same problem with C&C. It seems that whenever some problems that I brought to their attention and they are unable to solve them, they will tell me that "it's like that" or "it's the same for the Mitsubishi". Some of the issues that I brought up: 1) Power lock - noticed that whenever I lock or unlock, I can hear an after sound (like spring vibration), this happens for all the 4 doors. 2) Screws rusted - the wing mirrors - could see brownish water dripping. The screws were changed at my last service. 3) Incorrect tyre size, 205/50R16 87V. These are meant for 1.6litre cars. They offered the same 16" upgrades for the Cerato. How can that be? The OE size for the Mag: 195/70R14, so upgrade should be 205/60R15, 205/55R16 or 215/50R16. You can check the label pasted on the side of the driver side door, which also state the appropriate pressure. Check it out & see for yourself. I manage to resolve that with C&C. Anyone interested to know can PM me. Why am I bringing all this up in this forum? Simply as Mag drivers/owners in SKC, we must band together and get C&C to provide us with appropriate answers to the problems some of us may or may not. Will the problem of stalling happen to me? I don't know. It may or may not. My point is that if we band together as a group then we have 'power' to negotiate or demand certain resolution whatever the situation/problem is. (much like union) What do you Mag Bros say? Perhaps we can have a regular meet?

Hi guys,
From my personal experience, I believe I was already complaining about vibration when I got my car from C&C. I remember testing Hattee's car. Quite similar vibration.
Anyway in my earlier post, I mentioned using the metal treatment. It has been 6 months since I added in the engine.
2 weeks ago, I did an engine oil change (0W20 M1) and added a 2nd treatment of the metal treatment.
The car is now accelerating very smoothly and it seems that the vibration is also less noticeable.
BTW, what is the best sparks for the Mag? How much do they cost? Where to get?

Have you checked your auto trans dip stick? May have insufficient auto trans oil. If so, have your car jack up to see if there's any leak undercarriage.
If all ok, you may want to try out MSP metal treatment for engine. It will actually reduce vibration. Engine is also quieter & smoother. It coats the engine metal parts to reduce friction. Actually get better mileage, about 10km/l. No worries, it is petroleum based, no additive, PTFE or teflon etc. You can check out at stamford tyres. (for better service, go to changi megamart - look for Michael).

Bros, we have 1 meet so far. Perhaps all Mag bros whose keen to meet up can pm me. Also, include your preference of time/place. i.e. (morning/afternoon) / (North/West/East) Whenever we have a meet, I can send out an invite.
I think Hattee has done some great work on his Mag, He's got great FC especially since high petrol prices is here to stay. Perhaps it'll be good to consult him.
My FC is still betw 8.5-9km/l. Hopefully when I change to syn. oil for 10000km, it'll be better. This coming Sat, 27 May 2006. Anyone keen?

I'm game to meet up for more chit chat and perhaps meet more Mag drivers.
If we can make the meet a regular schedule, every last Saturday or the month, and also have some interesting topic or activity like the last one - EZ-Stab, then maybe more drivers can drop in.
As for the ez-stab, I suppose the throttle response is bit better. Mileage seemed to improve. Not sure if its the ez-stab or the Mag running in cycle. Getting about 450km on 3/4 tank. Based on the previous record, the bal 1/4 tank should get me another 100-120km. projection: 550-570km. BUT still far from your 700km.

Update on our first informal meet: We've got our EZ-stab installed.
It was a good exchange of info amongst the guys.
Perhaps, we can arrange for a monthly meet (Every first or last Saturday of the month).
Anyone interested can just intro themselves here.
Zack, will keep you posted on future meet.
