My K5 is one year old & have clocked 14K. For the last week whenever I drive off, there is a fowl smell from the aircon system even before switching on the aircon. I normally drive for 10mins before switching on the aircon so the air recirculation mode will be `fresh air' by default. After switching on the aircon & setting the switch to recirculate, the smell goes off after 5 mins. Anyone experience this?

Hi K5 owners, I just have 1 query. The K5 model now comes with solar glass. Anyone used it without solar films? Is it as good? Will it be redundant to have solar films? I specified that mine be fitted with solar film.Have been using it for 10mths already.

haha... happened to me, and I thought something was wrong too. It's "normal" and we learned the reason why from Bro Duckling (aka Johnson) during the GTG. Try releasing the fuel cap door BEFORE you ignition off.... it should work every time! Seems the K5's releases (boot and fuel/petrol cap door) are electrically triggered. When ignition off, the alternator-generated power is "interrupted"... no power, no release. Guess after waiting a bit, the releases draw power from the battery to work. I have always thought that the alternator charges the battery and at same time power is drawn from the battery for whatever needs. So I was wrong.. while engine is running, the alternator directly supplies the juice... BTW, I've learned about grounding, too. And I'm trying to find out more about R.I.S.K... Thanks for your reply vt04k5.

Hi, can i chk anyone went to c&c to chk on the bluetooth cos mine is having echo whenever i use. All my frds say can hear their echo when talking to me. Thks Bro newedge, no authority on this, but think different bro's have had different experiences with their BT. If u care to, u may wish to review earlier posts in this forum. I recall some with similar problem as yours (echo). Some had difficulties pairing with devices, one or two(?) actually had their BT not working at all and needed to have their HU replaced. Personally, i had some "dropping" of paired mobiles initially, and also some echo (to me in the car).. but then the problems have disappeared since. Now no real problem except the odd "echo" which i suspect is due to signal strength and environment. Those I checked with then didn't have echo when they talked to me while i was using the car's BT..., not sure now but no one complained. hope yours works out ok too.., if over time! Just sharing. My BT works fine so far.No pairing issues with my Galaxy Note & my wife's iPhone 4S.The receiving party will say that I sound a little echoish but I've been told that all BT speakers are like that.

Just clocked 2K for my K5.Just last week, when I switch off the aircon, the light switches from Recirculation to Fresh Air In mode on the aircon panel.Never happened when I collected my ride.Has anyone experienced this before? Something similar. Normally I leave at Recirculate and don't switch off the AC specifically but simply turned off ignition. Once in awhile, it shows Fresh Intake. Not sure if I accidentally touch the button when adjusting temp, or there's a timer, or ? For the auto mode for the wipers, when I adjust the speed using the thumb wheel, the speed of the wiper makes no difference. It's very fast. For my previous ride,I can adjust the intermittent wipe speed from slow to fast.Is this normal for the K5?
Can adjust (I think so anyway as it changes the wiper speed when I did), but seems there is an auto override... if it rains heavily, the wiper speeds up. t
Looks like my aircon recirculation light is an intermittent problem.Monitored over the last week & sometimes, when I turn on the aircon,it just stays at the `fresh air in' mode.I have to press the `recirculation' button to get the the air to circulate.Sometimes,it will switch to the `recirculation' mode when I turn on the aircon.Since it's not critical,I don't think I'll send my car in just for this. Will wait for my 10K service but guess it's going to be probably in 5-6mths time.

Just to check.....can i do a separate switch for our DRL instead of once we start engine it will turn on? From what my SE told,if you want to disable the DRL,you have to go back to C&C but why would you want a separate switch? I find the DRLs very useful when going into my MSCP.It provides lighting without switching on the headlamps. It's also very visible to other road users, even pedestrians.

so saving on the cost of 6-litre of helix engine oil potentially may end up paying for cost of overhauling or replacing the engine (or its innards) if it fails within 5 years? great deal..., sounds like. I've always been using oils like Amsoil,Redline & recently before getting this ride,Pennzoil.Really great oils.I particularly like the 5-30W grade.Maybe it's in the mind.Anyway,it's only stated as 4L in the job sheet, not 6L.

Bro, gkotody.. think that's normal.. it's that way with pretty much all the cars I've had, and certainly with the Sonata NF's, all noisy at startup and then quieten down (a lot) when warm. Obvious if the car just sits around during that time. But they all ran without any problems the full 5/6 years before I traded them in. but if you feel like spending the weekend with some worrying, try this: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=1154764&mid=0&nmt=Engine+Tappet+Noiseha ha.. kachau only la. Chill ! Thanks for the reply vt04k5.Just wanted to know if it's normal.

Just did my 1K service. Can bring own oil but will charge $30 & engine related warranties will be voided.I notice that when the engine starts up from cold,I can hear the tappets distinctively.Only after about 6-7mins will the sound slowly go off.Can someone confirm if this is normal?

Just traded in my Nexen tyres for Bridgestone GR90. bro, u hv had a few days on the GR90's.. feedback? my sumi's holding their own for my driving style. but think we need better bolstered seats... with the springs/shocks, the car's pretty steady now in the turns even if done quick, but I keep sliding around in the seat! I have used the GR90 on my previous ride for 30K.Most evenly worn tyre I've used.Even my tyre shop guy was impressed.I have used him for more than 10yrs so I trust his recommendation.Even after 30K,I could hardly notice the increase in noise level. Was on Aspect DB previously. No comparison.Noise level compared to the Nexen is only slightly better.Think the Koreans need to better insulate their cars.My style of driving is 'Ah Pek' moderate pace. Will occasionally like to try a fast corner.Tried that previously on the GR.Quite good. The load rating for the GR is 91W but the Nexen is 95W though my tyre guy says it's no issue.
