My 05 Mag engine vibration during idling is really noticeable since the last 2 month or so, when gear is in D. Vibration quite bad when turn on aircon during stop in traffic light. But when put to Neutral, vibration disappear. Even after 20 mins of driving, problem is the same. My ride's got 26K mileage.
Have read in some overseas forums that it could be due to "sticky idle control valve" .... ANy of you guys experiencing/ had this problem with your Mag, is this a normal thing?
Thanks guys!

Have you checked your auto trans dip stick? May have insufficient auto trans oil. If so, have your car jack up to see if there's any leak undercarriage.
If all ok, you may want to try out MSP metal treatment for engine. It will actually reduce vibration. Engine is also quieter & smoother. It coats the engine metal parts to reduce friction. Actually get better mileage, about 10km/l. No worries, it is petroleum based, no additive, PTFE or teflon etc. You can check out at stamford tyres. (for better service, go to changi megamart - look for Michael).

If I understand correctly from many owners of front wheel drive auto-trans, mild steering vibration is usually noticeable if your engine is relatively quiet. Vibration can aggrevate with many reasons like fallen idling rpm, deteriorated idling torque (low-end poor spark or injection), increased loading from worn-out aircond compressor or weaker battery/alternator/voltage regulation. I did encountered numerous steering vibration at trafic junction when voltage dropping below 12.5V until I replaced my battery. Our healthy idling voltage should be 13.3-14.3V. Perhaps, our tranny is more sensitive to slight dropping of idling rpm, torque or voltage. My 05 Mag engine vibration during idling is really noticeable since the last 2 month or so, when gear is in D. Vibration quite bad when turn on aircon during stop in traffic light. Hattee, i think u must be the most experienced mag owner we have here and your comments are by far the most explanatory. I went for my 30k check up last week and was asked to change battery which C&C quoted me $140. I didnt take up the offer before I check with forumers here on the usual price for outside workshop. THey cleaned up the throttle but still vibration problem. So, can you tell me where did you go to get your battery changed and what type/brand did you get , plus, how much you paid for it. If the problem still persist, I think i'm gonna change spark plugs. Again, need your advise on where can change them and whether or not will void warranty if do these at outside workshop . Thank bro!

Bro, don't say that lah. Me learning as much as any member here. I have been watching the battery voltage on my Apexi turbo timer whenever the vibration happened.
Maybe I missed out one potential weakness with Magentis engine mounts. Met one member who just changeout the mounts and the feel of his steering is just like new car iding at D with a/con.
Keh kiang went to changeout mine last Thursday but vibration crops in now:( Dunno issit some alignment needed during the replacement cos mine was a different mechanic. Waiting to drive for a few weeks hoping the mount settle itself (my guess) before go back to C&C. If can improve by adjustment, then another potential cause of vibration is worn out or misalignment of engine mount. Something new but would like to hear from others.
As for battery you might want to read-up the better heat tolerance of Amaron and seems quite widely used by AA and taxis. Available from Nam Wah (65) 6294 4735 • 53, Ubi Ave 1, #03-40, Paya Ubi Industrial Park, Singapore 408934. the biggest one that fits Magentis will set you back by $130-$140. The prices have gone up alot. Although maint-free, can still add water or de-sulphator after 12-18 months which most maint-free cannot. This probably can extend battery life to 30-40 months.
Let me know once you have a new battery and will pass you some insulation matt to keep it from the engine heat. You probably increasingly see more cars are having heat isolation or insulation around the battery area if you open up their bonnet.

Ok thanks. How about our stock spark plugs, what are they? Platinum, Iridium, copper? U think i should replace them now?

Suspect original plug usually is copper. Sparking with iridium electrode requires lower voltage than copper and Platinum. Hence reduces probability of misfire at higher rpm as plug ages. Ok thanks. Hi guys,
From my personal experience, I believe I was already complaining about vibration when I got my car from C&C. I remember testing Hattee's car. Quite similar vibration.
Anyway in my earlier post, I mentioned using the metal treatment. It has been 6 months since I added in the engine.
2 weeks ago, I did an engine oil change (0W20 M1) and added a 2nd treatment of the metal treatment.
The car is now accelerating very smoothly and it seems that the vibration is also less noticeable.
BTW, what is the best sparks for the Mag? How much do they cost? Where to get?

if vibration is less pronounced when u shift to N during idling, it could be the engine mountings cracked/worn. You can ask c&c to do a visual check on ur engine mountings or any experienced mechanic. if its cracked, just change it and the prob will be solved.
