Hi! Not sure if you have seen the comparison table of the fuel consumption of the different brand of cars on the Singapore website: www.mycarforum.com/reviews/reviews.pl?action=fc_table
The fuel consumption for Magentis stated in the table is 10km/litre with 40% Highway and 60% Road. If what it is stated on the table is true, then the Magentis compares quite well with the rest of the cars. But sometimes, I think we have to take this kind of table with a pinch of salt esp since I am looking at some Magentis owners here as having quite different FC for their cars. I guess the driving habits do affect the FC quite a bit.
I was just wondering if we could have a list of table of FC for all Magentis drivers in this forum showing:
??km/litre ??%highway ??% Road.
We could perhaps have a better idea of the average FC of the Magentis.
Recently revisited the above link, found that the some of the car models variation in FC seems to be quite wide. Of course driving style & road conditions affect the FC.
I'm wondering if people are using the same method.
Reason:
Normally I'll leave the pumping to the pump attendent who set the pump to auto which stops when its "full" with a click. He will add a bit more manually to round off to the nearest dollar.
In my case, when "empty" warning light is on, I'll usually pump within the next 10km after that. The volume that is filled is between 58litres & 59litres.
Since the car's spec indicates fuel tank to be 65 litres, I assumed that the balance I have is about 5 to 6 litres.
Adopting the method as suggested by Hattee recently, I decided to see how much fuel I can add after first click. I was able to pump almost 67 litres into the tank before I see the fuel at the tip of pump hole. With that, I clocked 630km.
Anyone used the same method?
My point is that the accuracy of the FC being calculated will differ quite substantially. I guess the correct method to determine FC is to fill up to the brim, drive for 100km or 200km, then fill to the brim again and take the difference in fuel put in to calculate the FC.
Any comments?
