Appreciate to share experience how to fill to the brim without splashing out from the tank cap. Only by doing so we can calculate properly the actual FC. After first click, can top about another 10ltr. 300km should be in the 9km/l region. When I fill to the brim, I touch full tank mark at 180km. 3/4 mark at 270km lor...... 9.33km/L i am getting back 300KM on half tank ( based on the fuel gauge) Is this the norm for you guys? I will squeeze in another 5-6 litre after the 1st click when filling up. not sure how much in all thou.

Filling to the brim take about 15~20mins ........ depending on your skill. Here are the step : a) Pump as per normal. I generally dont go full blast. Maybe 3/4 on the lever. (2mins) b) On first click, pull the pump nozzle out until you can see it. Slowly pump until you fill to the brim (2mins). Take note of the litre pump in so far. c) At b) you have still not pump to the true brim, as you will notice the fuel slowly drain in. From here, very slowly pump another 6 litre to the brim (10~15mins) Some of the best fill to brim station in both countries: Shell, Esso, Caltex, SPC-Sin only The worst fill to brim station : Petronas, BHP (Malaysia only) Other ways to speed up item c a) Let the engine run when you fill, 5~8 mins. b) Find a kiosk where the floor is not leveled but tilted gently toward the right side. Not sure about other car, the Carens/Rondo uses the Returnless Fuel Delivery System. Just to put simply, fuel when pump out to the engine never return to the fuel tank. So no heated fuel returned to the fuel tank and so the air pressure in the tank remain relatively normal to the atmospheric pressure. So to say, the tank will not burst because of high pressure or cause the overpressure valve to trigger. Appreciate to share experience how to fill to the brim without splashing out from the tank cap. By the way, there are some reports in the internet saying if pumping to the full, the fuel which leaves the nozzle may actually be sucked back to the petrol kiosk underground fuel reservoir, which is a method in place to ensure no spillage. If that's the case, we are donating the fuel back to the petrol kiosk. And this is another reason why pumping to the brim may not be a good idea. Not sure how true this internet report is. Actually, it is the click thing that cause the petrol to return ........ not full tank. oh no, everytime fueling I would have 4 clicks....it means I have put back much fuel to the petrol kiosk ? Actually, it is the click thing that cause the petrol to return ........ not full tank. Here is my best ever FC in Singapore Driving. Fill to the brim, 190km later, at full mark. This is amazing ! A masterpiece..... this holiday season just started and I experienced the first issue....one of my original tyres Kumho Solus KH15 bulging at one section causing car bouncing and steering pulled to the left when my hands let go. The tyre shop in Muar clearly showed the bulging area, and another 3 tyres about ok. But they said one more tyre about the same, and another two following suit soon. I know there were business at stake which normally they would make things sounded worse. The mileage is 33,300 km and so I replaced all the 4 tyres to Michelin Energy XM2, all 4 together with balancing / alignment coming to SGD 600. The Kia Carens FC of the past few weeks have been clocking around 9.5km / L and the one trip made to Singapore the beginning of school holidays, inclusive of the 2-way traffic jam along the causeway reduced the FC to 8.8 km/ L. Let's see how Michelin Energy XM2 can make any improvement to FC.

Wow ....... 33kkm only for KH15 ? Heard it is a tire design for FC, grip OK for normal use. Good wear lor...... If 1 tire wear out, alignment issue leh ........ I usually buy a second hand to cover it. Then change all at once ......... 6 month later or an offer or whichever cheap for me. This is how I wait for a good deal......heeeeee...... Let's try it this coming weekend, thanks ! Yes~ Yes! Hahaha....I reached this level of fuel this morning! 16th June 2012 8:20AM Thanks Appletree for illustration ! And, you are right in 1 year ago message, I took ~10 mins from the first fuel nozzle click to eventually reach this. And I just realized the fuel nozzle click came at ~21 Litres, but eventually I filled till 36.91 Litres. And I filled RON 95, never looked so dark. Your fuel is darker, means more energy from fuel which is good for FC? RON 95 / RON 98 ?

8~9km/L are good FC. If go on NSH, the magic of Carens comes.......can easily hit 11~12km/L.
With full tank you can make a round trip from Singapore to Sunway lagoon, with fuel to spare.
The maximum FC for Carens is no more than 13km/L on 2.0L model and done by testlab around the world.
Typical City driving 8.5km/L.
C&C claimed 10.9km/L for New Carens 2.0L and 11.9km/L for New Carens Elite.

Yes, my Carens is equipped with stock Trip Computer, throughout the usage in 21 months, only manually reset twice, and another twice were forced-reset because of unclipping + and - poles of the battery. The latest one should be quite accurate, because I reset it during school holidays when spouse driving it to Singapore. After covering c losed to 1.5k km since reset, it shows 10.1 L / 100km = 9.9 km/L, so not really that precision, only as an indication. I remember that your Carens got the FC meter, izzit ?
