I have not heard anything about this. But some points for consideration.
1. Sportage got smaller boot space even compare with CRV. Even though can squeeze in another row of seats, people sitting at the last row would need to sit upright, I guess.
2. LTA compliance?
3. Any Insurance claim problem?

Hi guys, Thank you for the comments.
A friend suggested a kind of 'foldable' seat seen in some mpv. If 3rd row is not in use, it can be folded and the boot space is still available.
The LTA compliance and insurance claim is something I never thought of. Will check out more.
Thanks !

I am looking forward to your research outcome ... FYI i have used the child seat to put my son at the boot space and wah lah ... i have converted my 5 seater to 6 seater ... and i have folded down the 2nd row seat ... and wah lah ... I have managed to squeeze 7 adults and 2 children in the vehicle ... for additional boot space ... well the car comes with roof rail ... get a roof rack and put a roof basket or box ... but shelter parking would be a big problem ... well i did thought of the 7 seater after i saw the chevrolet captiva .... but the captiva is just way way overpriced ...

Fortuner FC abt 6.00 - 6.50KM/L If you need more car boot space, fold the 3rd row and it's spacious.
I wud prefer Fortuner than Vitara. Fortuner no need to do lifting, it's already lifted. Buy the 2nd hand, it's 4WD. The brand new are only 2 rear wheel drive.
Somemore, yr baby so big size. Buy Fortuner or Prado.

Hi kit71, Sure FC better than Sportage? So far mine FC is between 8 - 10km/L (depends the ride) since the day collected. Fortuner FC abt 6.00 - 6.50KM/L If you need more car boot space, fold the 3rd row and it's spacious. I wud prefer Fortuner than Vitara. Fortuner no need to do lifting, it's already lifted. My Sportage full tank to lights up - 280-290KM My Fortuner full tank to lights up - 330-340KM Fortuner tank slightly bigger than the Sportage tank. So, what do u think? BETWEEN, are you aware we're out of topic?

aiyah, doesn't matter right.... Eh his doing his job lah.... He was added to be moderator for Sportage folders Shameful to say, I also not so on ball, hahaha, good on you ah Kit. Back to topic, I don't think it'll every get approved by LTA. Even if possible, knowing LTA you will need documentation from manufacturer and the actual work itself... need to have enough reinforced mounting points to secure the seat and not forgetting the seat belts that need to be added with the number of seats added. Easier to just change car ot have the kids lay flat in the boot. Bernard

Finanlly have LTA's response: The conversion is do-able, provided that the car agent can certified the safety of the modification.

Wah!! Modified the vehicle then shipped back to KIA (in Korea) to get is certified.... I wonder the $$$.... No need to ship back, its LTA standard reply. Just like the old Lexus IS200, there was a legally enhanced example, fitted with Team Toyota Europe(TTE) aftermarket supercharger kit. Just have to spend money, submit the papers(technical) for LTA to 'review' and approve. To do it on Sportage, as long as Kia Motors in Korea offer such a conversion and has the relevant documentation to support the 'enhancement' then LTA will have no objections. In short, not possible since its not done or offered by Kia Motors Korea. Bernard
