Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and am considering changing my 2003 Santy to Sportage as I really love the tall driving stance of a SUV. For a start, could anyone advise me on the following as I need to go back to the SE whom introduced me to the pretty Sportage... (1) Is there any make and built quality difference between Sportage and Tucson. If no, why is the cost of Sportage is lower than Tucson? (2) I went through the specification but could not find the FC, could anyone advise me on this? (3) Is there any problems with the car? I use to drive the older version of Kia Mentor and do encountered some problems but was amazed that the car has involved significantly through the years! (4) What is the usual maintenance cost like? (5) I am thinking about getting the CNG version, is there anyone currently driving one too? Thanking in advance for the advise. Cheers & have a nice day!!!

(5) I am thinking about getting the CNG version, is there anyone currently driving one too? Thanking in advance for the advise. Cheers & have a nice day!!! My inputs:- (1) mechnically the Sportage & Tucson are identical. I bought some stuff for my Sportage in USA under Tucson part list. ie, brake pads and rotors(disc) and other stuff. (2) FC - range from 5.5km/L(record holder has 30kg weights strapped to his right foot permanently) to 9.5km/L for most. Personal FC fluctuate between 9-7km/l. (3) Had my car since Jan 2005, its now 28 months old. Only had 1 problem when the brake warning indicators came on, had it sorted by C&C in 2hrs. Other then that no other issues during my 28 month ownership period. (4) Maintence cost should differ much from any other cars. I service mine every 10k km using synthetic oil. Mine is due for major service this month or next(80k). This one cost more with all the parts and stuff I'm changing. BTW, I don't go to C&C, I buy my stuff from stockist and go to a workshop that only charges labour. In fact, they ask me to go get my own parts to save them the trouble. (5) The first CNG owner in the forum hasn't collected his Sportage yet, probably in the next 1 to 2 months. We're having a meetup in May, why not join us at Gillman Village and ask all the questions you have. Nothing beats hearing it from existing owners. Bernard

Hi Bernard - thanks for the advise...really helpful. Went back to the showroom today to discuss with the SE about the CNG option as this is one of the driving factors on why I am considering changing my existing ride whom is serving me well. Was told by her that they will remove the spare tire away and replace with those stuff call tire sealant that was injected into the tire to prevent any accidental leakage or puncture...sounds practical to me but without a spare tire Done the test drive again and was pretty impressed by the response of the engine and found that the built quality is quite tight but found that equipment level is slight differ from those earlier batch although the new batch come with cruise control and auto light/rain sensor Nevertheless, told her to wait till next week to give her an answer Thanks again for the comments and advise...cheers, Wilson

Thus far, never had the misfortune requiring the use of my spare. With cruise control and auto rain sensors, what did they take away? No full leather I presume, comes with factory half leather. Anyway, the workmanship for the full leather is not that good, come to the meet up on friday, I can show you why. Bernard

Thanks for the invitation...when will the meetup date be at Gillman Village? Nothing beats hearing from the owners!!! You are right, in addition to the full leather that is gone, they replaced the silver-coloured central console and door arm supports with ordinary black. Gone are the 2 tier central arm rest and storage and replaced by 1 tier - very impractical as I found that the height is a little low Cheers and thanks again mate!!!

Buy Buy Buy... No problem after 3 years. I really love this car ... got power. I mean compare to it's class.
Tucson or Sportage is own preference. But I prefer the look of the Sportage.
