It was a sad day when I upgraded my ride to a bigger one.
I felt the tinge of indescribable sadness when I took out my belongings from my picante to the new ride. it was also raining coincidentally that afternoon at the dealer's at Turf City. the heavens did pour and my heart sank as I drove the new ride out, and the red car slowly disappeared from sight from the rear view mirror.
The ride was my first car. it was a part of me. my red manual picanto was my first sign of independence.
it was the first ride that my gf (and subsequently wife ) sat in.
we got married, became a family, moved to our new place.
so many memories with the car.
first and only breakdown which required towing. (clutch cable snapped )
couple quarrels and laughter in the car.
bringing the mother in labour to hospital and fetching both mommy and newborn back to the new flat.
transforming the car into a 'mini' van and carting all our stuff to the new flat.
sojourns to JB and having to be stuck on the slope on a hot afternoon after clearing Singapore customs.
I could still recall the excitement when I took the car key from the second hand car dealer. and the excitement turned to trepidation and kan-cheongness when I fumbled with the clutch and the car died on me so many times that day.
all the times and memories I had alone with the car. Those times I went to change the brakes, to add the solar film, to change its tires - all these are wonderful memories.
today I found out that someone had bought my ride from the dealer.
to the new owner of SJDXXXXR, pls take care of it. I love that car to bits. and I hope you continue to treat it well and that you will create fond memories and experiences with the car as I did.
If I could, I would want to continue having this ride till the end of my days. Alas, with a heavy heart, I bid my dear ride adieu.
till we meet again, in my dreams or on the road.
goodbye my lovely red car.
