I drive to Melaka on my Picanto 4 times, no problem. About 200+ km. Planning to go again end of the year. I read somewhere in this forum that some owners drove to Genting.

I have driven it up to Hatyai town b4, of course with stops in between. If non-stop, i think i have done 350km or so in Msia (NSHW).

Other trips include at least one stop for break.

With now much jam I believe there shouldn't be any problems with keep on brake & move hor... Should not have any problem. Just check you car before leaving. I usually go after doing servicing just to be safe. For me, I have brake and move in the slow traffic because i'm driving manual pica. Makes my left leg tired man! I heard the custom during these period is jam packed, my friend was queuing for like 2 hours before clearing custom. Possibly due to the weak ringgit, everyone seem to be going into Malaysia.

Hi endlesssorrow, I did not use any lock bar when I was in Melaka. I find Melaka quite safe and I don't think anyone want to steal my Pica. Not sure about JB, I don't really go JB. If you don't feel comfortable, use the secure bar to lock your car to have additional assurance.

Its a cheap investment la. Just buy, keep it under seat and use it when u dont feel safe, or dont hv good vibes of certain areas.
I have done multiple trips to JB, Malacca, KL, Pahang, the various highlands, Penang and Hatyai but i normally do not steering lock it. Picanto nobody will steal la in Msia.

ya, don't think anyone want to steal a Pica, haha.
Anyway, my 5th trip to Melaka is firm. Going on 1 Jan 2015 for 2 nights. Did all the necessary servicing - replaced brake fluid, coolant, rear brake pistons, tighten hand brake cable, power steering fluid, engine cover gasket last weekend. This weekend will do engine oil and oil filter change, spark plug change and manual gearbox oil change.

Hi endlesssorrow, normal servicing should be go enough before travel. I change so many things because i just renewed COE to keep my Pica, that's why i do so many change for this time round.

Before it gets overheat? From tamp/jurong to legoland? Or to melaka also can? I drove to malacca twice, no problem with that. If you are still some mileage away from your servicing, then the service can probably wait. If not, go and service and ask mechanic to help you check the ride. You should also do some checks by yourself as ultimately, you are the one who's driving the vehicle. For example, your tyre thread allowance (important to be within safe limits), your coolant reserve tank should be top up to the F mark, brake fluid level etc. You could also review your past servicing receipts to see things like when was your brake pads last changed, your coolant and transmission oil change etc. It's not as if you must change everything, but just making sure that everything is in good order. One full tank is enough to last till Malacca. I think it will used about 3/4 tank (for auto pica), not till low fuel warning light activates
