Bro aaur4man, May i correct "gone were the days i help you take a look". I have 2 workshops which will always help me take a look, not only look, but look already then fix it, at no charge. Of course no parts involved. For eg, tightening of belts, throttle body cleaning. Ya at no charge. lol i do know that too. but i was more speaking in context i have had my wheels, suspension removed , everything checked including cv joint but wasnt charged a cent as they could not find the cause of my problem. just casually mentioned that i should find sometime to call them for another appointment.

Please do us a favour by letting know which workshops. no point just giving examples i spoke to a fellow forumer earlier today. we longer wish to recommend workshops because u can actually be held responsible when something falls through! i mean like, seriously? we're consumers just like anyone else but get bitten when situations turn awry. i do notice too, that many old timers no longer share or simply disregard the existence of our subforum.

have you all ever wonder why bosses of workshops say business hard to do, cost rising, rental rising etc? but the bosses themselves are driving luxury cars to all, please keep comments constructive instead of destructive or sarcastic. Not protecting our advertisers, but trying to keep this a healthy place. Thank you. imo, kindly do not stereotype all bosses. Thank you. Thanks bro for your fair comment. Should Enterprise Owners make an investment of half a million just to provide 'cheap' service? For charitable causes? Let's be fair, all enterprises are set up to make money (except social enterprises). We are able to exist and live well is because we have put in lots of investment into technologies, equipment, training of staff, providing good and quality services and most of all, lots of our time. If with all these investment and yet we are not allow to make monies, would you want to do it yourself. Consumers/Clients are why we exists. Vis versa, we are around that's why you can continue to drive your car safely and happily. We are a free and open market. It has it's own forces to balance itself. Lousy service, dishonesty and out pricing ones' service will only result in early termination of ones' business. The other spectrum will allow one to make a good living and thus drive luxury car. I hope everyone who put in effort in your work (workshop or otherwise) will be rewarded adequately and thus have good life and drives luxury cars. Technologies is changing the way we live, work and transact. Both consumers and enterprises have to adapt. But at the end of the day, we adapt to survive. With currencies as the means of transaction, it will only means that raising or lowering of prices is unavoidable.. Meanwhile, I urge all consumers to do a little more study before spending your monies. This way, you will know that your monies are well spent (but end of the day, you still need to spend it!). Cheers and safe driving.

we can't charge customers for everything under the sun. Myself is in the Hospitality industry. If no works being carried out, no charge at all, fair. Sometimes by giving small free labour will attract return customers. Maybe you may package it into your initial quote. Then customers won't see the charge. This is how we package apartment rentals rate. Tenants have no idea that they are actually paying for the works that we have done for them.
When good service is rendered, customers will return and by word of mouth recommend more customers. Unless the business is sustaining at it's neck every month that no choice they have to charge.
Anyway, everyone has their own way in running business.

Maybe after 20 years of running workshops and other businesses had made me too rigid. Thanks

My industry abit diff, mechanical / electrical equipment require troubleshooting, specialist appointed, some might even required to fly to attend to the problem(s). Owner require to pay for the time/flight/accomodation of the specialist. Sounds good isnt it? But if the trouble persist after the solution adviced by the specialist? The company would be claimed or banned, and if the costs are high enough, may end up in court. If such cases increases for said specialist company, soon they will wind down.
Car industry I would say very diff. You say no good, he said otherwise. factory cars are easy. You will really see workshop colours when you go into tuned machines. Engine blows, brake fails, broken bolts in races, really tells you how good is a workshop. Not only judge a workshop by counting their trophies. After all safety measures are strict, so min life at risk. Everyone do business. Do it with sincere, honesty, professionally. Its not only a car, it a matter of life and death if handles carelessly.

yes Joey is right. The point is not everything is expensive. Just that we should not be paying through our nose. Everything has a market value for it.
If you are not careful, might be like the tourist paying for $10K for buying 2 handphones, because he do not know the market value.

Both parties have to be responsible. If the shop sells too high, he will have no business. If the consumer thinks it's too high, then just don't patronise. Shop does not need to say consumer is cheap. Consumer does not need to say shop is expensive. Just don't need to have any deal in between. Nobody is forcing the other to conform to ones 'belief'. Like that it will by HARMONIOUS!! Enjoy your weekend.
