if my car sometimes refuses to go into overdrive a.k.a last gear on my cerato V1 ...is it a ECU problem ? There are just too many possibilities. It may not be a problem at all.

Happy New Year. Yes, you need to tune to suit your latest set up.

If I'm not wrong, if you are putting the stock parts temporary, don't need retune. If its a permanent replacement, it's best to retune for maximum driveability.

Tks bro picanyeo for advice. Whats the rationale of tuning since putting back the stock parts permanently? This tuning is it QFR programming? I got risk. Tks.

Tks bro picanyeo for advice. Whats the rationale of tuning since putting back the stock parts permanently? This tuning is it QFR programming? I got risk. Tks. The reason is that your current tuning is based on what you currently have on board. Your extractor and muffler plays a big role in the exhaust gas rate output. A muffler alone can affect the low end, not to mention the additional hardware you possess. So if you change back to stock parts, your ECU settings is still based on the tuning for extractor and muffler. Usually, the tuning will run lean if you change from stock to aftermarket exhaust parts. I'm not sure but I guess it may be a reverse case if you change from aftermarket back to lean, meaning running rich. It will affect your daily driving. Not sure about this and will need Joey to give the answer. QFR, QF and FDL are all a form of Original ECU Programming, OEP for short. It's just that FDL is more comprehensive as its a custom map to suit different vehicles with different hardware. QFR is a form of OEP designed for vehicles with RISK. But you are right. If you retune it based on stock exhaust, you are basically getting something close to QFR. However, only difference is yours is a custom mapping. If you decide to change to aftermarket parts in the future, you still can retune. But not for QFR as its a flash package. Hope this helps but I'm also hoping that whatever I said is right. Coz I'm just saying according to what I know. Still have to ask joey for confirmation.

Hi bro picanyeo, tks for the wonderful advice. Yes i understand wat u mean liao. 👍 i supposed so, since if i change back to stock parts & retune, i may get something like QFR mapping. Thats fine as i was expecting this. Im curious then, hows the effect of driving after changing back to stock parts?

I think loss of power is a definite factor. In addition, you have the extractor as well. The effects may be greater compared to a muffler alone.
