Please guys, I don't remember who posted here to stop using 5W30 engine Oil and start using 5W40. That kind of info is INCORRECT by KIA, Use 5W30 Engine Oil and you guys will be good. See that apply to every KIA vehicle since 2004... Hope that helps. regards!

So 5w30 is suitable for temp between 5 to 30 degree? So should use 5w30 or 5w40? I so confuse liao. If use 40 will it be better or will it be bad for my pica?

40 is thicker. this make the engine a bit more difficult to run. so ppl always say thinner oil better FC.

Oh i see, so 40 is more exp, but better for engine, 30 is cheaper. So is it true that 30 give better FC result or its just a saying?

40 dun mean it is cheaper that 30... but thinner oil does contribute to better FC

0W30,5W30,10W30 use so long liao. smore recommended by car manual. I recently switch to w40 because mileage is over 50k. I still find that w30 still the best for pica day to day usage. Next servicing will switch back to w30 until mileage reach 80k than decide.

This is the first time I heard that because Spore is hot, so use thicker oil. Summer in temperate country is hotter. And the engine is the hottest. Spore is hot, so please install aircon at home as LKY said the greatest invention of all mankind is aircon. heeee........ KIA recommend thinner oil because they have improve the manufacturing process tolerance on the clearance between piston and block. That why 2004 onward engine can take thinner 5W30 oil (even 0W-20 WOW) lor. Oil consumption in engine is mainly due to oil seeping into the combustion chamber. My mechanic said.....use thin oil as per manufacturer spec, until oil consumption become unbearable. Use thin oil main for FC. If your engine can no longer tahan it because of wear and tear, then switch to thicker oil. I just got free from C&C warranty and switch to 5W-30 immediately. My mileage is 63kkm If KIASI like me, keep the leftover new engine oil. Check every month to ensure the oil level is OK. Topup if necessary. By right, your engine oil should not drip below the low mark for the first 10kkm. Apple to apple comparison......thinner oil is always more expensive. Bought from Giant X-Gold 5W-30 5Ltr at $28.99.......and good oil. Compliant to API SM/CM. One step higher than KIA recommendation of API SI and SJ grade. my mileage is over 60k so for the next 70k recommended to use w30? previously on w40.

Thickness of the oil is related to cars making a lot of power and generating a lot heat.
Porsche and other high performance turbo car requires xw40.
If your car don't make 200bhp, I don't think xw40 oil is ever required.
