As per topic title, are there any bolt-on aftermarket brake rotors/callipers available for our Picanto? Been wanting to boost the braking performance, tried brake pads + s/s brake hoses but still looking for a bit more... ;D

Bro, how about installing brake booster? You can have a bbk feel even you are on stock brakes. At around $160, you can have a much much much better braking distance.

Does s/s brake hose improve braking effectiveness ?

Stainless steel brake hose doesn't improve braking performance. It improves the 'feel' cos as it doesn't tend to bloat over the years unlike rubber hoses.

if i were to have a good braking system but normal tyres, my braking distance will the the same cos i will be skidding frequently as pica is too light and dun have ABS... imo, i will be better if we could change our driving habits instead...

Do wider tyres play a significant part in braking distance? Wider tyres, more difficult to move off, more easy to stop?

Hmm.. Any aftermarket brake pads for pica? I seldom read about pple changing brake pads here.. I was hoping to improve on my brakes for my pica since it's an impt part of safety..
How much am I expected to fork out for changing brake pads? Are our stock brake pads good enough?

I just replaced by worn out brake pad to original brake pads. Less than $70 i think. I find that its good enuf as long u keep a safe distance if you are speeding.

Btw there is a set of slotted disc brakes kit which is very very good, they are the ATS brakes, should be around $2300 with installation at MotoRex.

Hi bro, This ATS is a direct bolt on kit for Picanto?? Yup, but your rims must be of 15' and must have enough clearance, do visit them and they will help you see whether the clearance is enough, anyway another way to increase braking power is to do SSBH aka stainless steel braided hoses and stock rotor slotting, which I had already done the latter at PowerExpress for less than $50 per disc. For SSBH, you can inquire from MotoRex, they carry HEL SSBH and they are the sole agent which means cheaper , outside they do SSBH for our rides but they actually cut the hose to our rides' length and fix it up, for MotoRex, the HEL they bring in if of direct fit gam gam ho one. Best thing is there is lifetime warranty and you will know y until you see the SSBH yourself. All these are a cheaper alternative to improve braking power. PS: No matter how 'powerful' you brakes are, the ultimate tools for better braking distance is your tires, good brake without good tires will still make u 'snake', whereas stock brakes or better brakes with good road holding tires give you ultimate braking distance. Remember, you car don't worth $70 per tires, do not save on tires, they will save you one day

Thanks for your advices black.. HEL is a reputable brand for motorcycles.. Heard alot about them during my motorcycyle times.. Gd stuffs I think..
But I think I will go for tyres first, then proceed if it require more.. Anyway, your advices is gd for pple like me who are thinking of upgrading brakes but don't know where to start from.. I believe brakes are a section worth considering if you are really going to increase significant output from your engine..

No problem bro, I'm a learner too so share what I know and learn what is taught by everyone. Usually, the cycle for improving braking distance is 1st - get good quality tires(check MFY), 2nd - do slotting of stock rotors, 3rd - change stock brake hose to SSBH, if all 3 of the mentioned still not up to what you expected, lastly - change the whole brake setup to a higher grade ones which easily cost you $2000+.
